Cordish Gaming Group has appointed Jason Birney as general manager of Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. The announcement was made on July 14, 2026, assigning Birney oversight of daily operations at the 1.5 million-square-foot property.
Executive Role and Career Background
Birney will simultaneously hold the title of executive vice president for the resort. The facility operates 2,100 slot machines, 150 live table games and 208 hotel rooms. His responsibilities include coordinating gaming floor activities, hospitality services and entertainment programming.Birney previously led interactive operations at Penn Entertainment. His earlier career at Caesars Entertainment covered a six-year period from 2002 to February 2009, starting as a senior advertising production planner at Harrah's & Showboat Atlantic City and ending as direct marketing and public relations manager at Harrah's Philadelphia.
Additional assignments included director of marketing at Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway and vice president and general manager at Hollywood Casino Columbus. Joe Billhimer, chief operating and development officer at Cordish Gaming Group, confirmed that Birney's operational background and regional experience match the resort's requirements.
Cordish Gaming Group has recently added two new venues to its portfolio. The company held the grand opening of Live! Casino Virginia on January 23, 2026, establishing the first full-scale casino in that market.
In February 2025, the group launched Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana, a $270m resort that introduced the first land-based casino to the Shreveport-Bossier area.
